03082023 – 7th Ave Lane Adjustments – The southbound lane originally planned on 7th Ave heading southbound from Elm St to the Melrose Apartments is being reduced. The lane on the west side of 7th Ave will only be available from Elm St to Highland Ave or from Highland Ave to Elm St and is only available from the west. The lane will be two-directional and managed by police officers. Use Highland Ave, 11th Ave, and Camelback Rd to enter or exit.
A southbound lane on the west side of 7th Ave will be available from the Melrose Apartments to Turney Ave, like in 2022. The lane on the west side of 7th Ave will only be available from the Melrose Apartments to Turney Ave or from Turney Ave to the Melrose Apartments and is only available from the west. The lane will be two-directional and managed by police officers. Use Turney Ave, 11th Ave, and Indian School Rd to enter or exit.
A southbound lane on the west side of 7th Ave will be available from the Take 5 Oil Change to Indian School Rd and is one-directional for exiting onto Indian School Rd only.
03082023 – 15th Ave Lane Adjustment – Access onto 15th Ave will not be available. Instead, from 11th Ave, use Campbell Ave to 15th Ave to access residences and businesses on the east side of 15th Ave from Campbell Ave to Camelback Rd. Exit using 15th Ave to Camelback Rd.
High-Level Event Detail
The Pride Run Phoenix annual event will occur Saturday, March 18, 2023, from 5 AM to 12 PM. Road closures will begin as early as 2 AM and should be clear by 1 PM, with most, if not all, closures and restrictions finished by 10:30 AM to 11 AM. Expect traffic delays throughout the event. If possible, attempt to avoid areas of closure or restriction on race day. When needed, plan approach/departure routes and times.
7th Ave – Detailed:
The 7th Ave road closure is from Indian School Rd to Camelback Rd. Indian School Rd and Camelback Rd remain open during the road closure, and 7th Ave is crossable at these intersections.
To cross 7th Ave east and west, use Indian School Rd and streets south of Indian School Rd or Camelback Rd and streets north of Camelback Rd.
Use 3rd Ave or 11th Ave and avoid 7th Ave unless your destination is a home or business on the west side of 7th Ave from Elm St north of Highland Ave to the Melrose Apartments south of Campbell Ave [03082023 Update]. Plan to access 3rd Ave or 11th Ave from Indian School Rd for destinations south of the Grand Canal and from Camelback Rd for destinations north of the Grand Canal.
Adjacent businesses and residences on the west side of 7th Ave from Elm St to Highland Ave or from [03082023 Update] the Melrose Apartments to Turney Ave [03082023 Update] remain accessible throughout the closure. For those businesses or homes with only driveway access from 7th Ave, the southbound curb lane of 7th Ave from Elm St to Highland Ave or from [03082023 Update] the Melrose Apartments to Turney Ave [03082023 Update] will be available and managed by police officers.
Please be careful when using the southbound access lanes [03082023 Update] on 7th Ave. Watch for police officers managing and directing traffic. Also, watch for runners and walkers adjacent to you on the road and be prepared to yield to runners and walkers who cross this lane at the Grand Canal [03082023 Update].
To use 7th Ave north of Highland Ave to Elm St, specifically the Solaris Condominiums and the Alta Vista Veterinary Hospital:
- Enter from Camelback Rd, head south on 11th Ave, east on Highland Ave, and north on 7th Ave.
- Exit from 7th Ave, head south to Highland Ave, west to 11th Ave, and north to Camelback Rd.
- Police officers will help coordinate traffic needing this lane in both directions.
[0308203 Update] To use 7th Ave between Highland Ave and Campbell Ave:
- Enter from Camelback Rd, head south on 11th Ave, east on Highland Ave, and south on 7th Ave.
- Exit from 7th Ave, head south to Campbell Ave, west to 11th Ave, and north to Camelback Rd.
To use 7th Ave north of Turney Ave south of Campbell Ave [03082023 Update] to the Melrose Apartments:
- Enter from Indian School RdCamelback Rd [03082023 Update], head northsouth [03082023 Update] on 11th Ave, east on TurneyCampbell [03082023 Update] Ave, and south on 7th Ave.
- Exit from 7th Ave, head southnorth [03082023 Update] to TurneyCampbell [03082023 Update] Ave, west to 11th Ave, and north to Camelback Rd.
- Police officers will help coordinate traffic needing this lane in both directions, including at the Grand Canal, where runners and walkers will be crossing this lane to enter and exit the Grand Canal [03082023 Update].
15th Ave – Detailed:
The 15th Ave road closure is from the Grand Canal to Camelback Rd. Camelback Rd remains open during the road closure, and 15th Ave is crossable at this intersection.
To cross 15th Ave east and west, use streets south of the Grand Canal (Indian School Rd when planning to travel across 7th Ave) or Camelback Rd and streets north of Camelback Rd.
Use 11th Ave or 17th Ave and avoid 15th Ave unless your destination is a home or business on the east side of 15th Ave from the Grand Canal to Camelback Rd or 4400 N 15th Ave on the west side of 15th Ave.
Businesses and residences adjacent to 15th Ave from the Grand Canal to Camelback Rd remain accessible throughout the closure. For those businesses or homes with only driveway access from 15th Ave, the northbound lane of 15th Ave from the Grand Canal to Camelback Rd will be available and managed by police officers.
Please be careful when using the northbound access lane on 15th Ave. Watch for police officers managing and directing traffic. Also, watch for runners and walkers adjacent to you on the road.
To use 15th Ave south of Campbell Ave to the Grand Canal:
- Enter from Camelback Rd, head south on 11th Ave, west on Campbell Ave, and south on 15th Ave.
- Exit from 15th Ave, head north to Campbell Ave, east to 11th Ave, and north to Camelback Rd, or continue to Highland Ave or Camelback Rd. [03082023 Update].
- Police officers will help coordinate traffic needing this lane in both directions, including 4400 N 15th Ave, to safely cross over the course when there is a break in the runners and walkers.
To use 15th Ave between Campbell Ave and Camelback RdHighland Ave [03082023 Update]:
- Enter from Camelback Rd, head south on 11th Ave, west on Campbell Ave, and north on 15th Ave.
- Exit from 15th Ave, head north to Highland Ave, east to 11th Ave, and [03082023Update] heading [03082023 Update] north to Camelback Rd, or continue to Camelback Rd [03082023 Update].
[03082023 Update] To use 15th Ave between Highland Ave and Camelback Rd:
- Enter from Camelback Rd, head south on 11th Ave, west on Highland Ave, and north on 15th Ave.
- Exit from 15th Ave, head north on 15th Ave to Camelback Rd.
The Vue on Camelback Apartments’ 15th Avenue driveway will be closed during the 15th Ave closure. To enter and exit, use the Pierson St driveway, Pierson St, 17th Ave, and Camelback Rd.
Hazelwood St – Detailed:
The Hazelwood St road closure is from 15th Ave to 17th Ave. 17th Ave remains open during the road closure, and Hazelwood St is crossable at this intersection.
During the closure, no parking is allowed on the street, and violators are subject to fines and towing. Signs will be posted within 48 hours before the event as a reminder, including when no parking starts and when parking resumes. While closed to parking, use alternate parking, which includes parking on 17th Ave.
The Phoenix Townhouse Condominiums’ driveways on Hazelwood St will be closed during the Hazelwood St closure. To enter and exit, use the 17th Ave driveway, 17th Ave, and Camelback Rd.
Central Ave – Detailed:
There will be a curb lane restriction (1 lane of 2) at the Grand Canal heading south on Central Ave.
19th Ave – Detailed:
There will be a curb lane restriction (1 of 3 lanes) at the Grand Canal heading north on 19th Ave.
Valley Metro
Guests of Pride Run Phoenix are encouraged to take advantage of mass transit and specifically light rail and park-and-ride lots to ease traffic congestion. Plan for high usage of light rail and park-and-rides. Bus service may be detoured due to street closures. Plan for slight bus service delays. Visit Valley Metro or call (602) 253-5000 for details.
